A typical day at NTT DATA

As an Associate Software Development Engineer, you’ll be an entry-level expert responsible for helping with the design, development, and testing of software systems, modules, or applications for improvements and new products, including tools related to cloud services or the internet.

Skills and Qualities

• Familiar with cloud systems and services from major providers like AWS, GCP, Microsoft Azure, and Microsoft Office 365.
• Skilled in various programming languages including C/C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Python, Node.js, and related tools and frameworks.
• Understanding of data organization, problem-solving methods, and software planning, with good skills in analyzing and fixing issues.
• Experience with software design using small, independent services and working on API projects.
• Knowledgeable about databases that use SQL and those that don’t, such as Elasticsearch, MongoDB, and Cassandra.
• Basic knowledge of tools that run applications in containers, like Kubernetes, Docker, and LXC/LXD.
• Comfortable with flexible, efficient work methods and prefers building software by testing first.
• Has a positive, proactive mindset.
• Can collaborate effectively with a team with varied skills and experiences.
• Able to perform well in a constantly changing, busy workplace.
• Basic understanding of Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment ideas and tools.
• Basic understanding of cloud services and how to set up applications on them.
• Very good focus on small details.

Main Duties

• Follows specific instructions to create and improve features that help the company grow.
• Helps write and check computer code.
• Helps run automated tests.
• Listens to different people involved to help with putting software out.
• Works with the team to provide parts of the software.
• Uses automation and coding to combine and create solutions with other software.
• Follows detailed instructions to make, fix, and improve big, spread-out systems.
• Helps write, change, and keep technical guides, user manuals, and how-to instructions.
• Helps improve and clean up code.
• Helps check and review code made by other programmers.
• Do any other tasks that might be needed?

Required Experience

• Basic experience in collaborating with teams spread across different locations, from the initial stages of projects to their completion, ensuring top-notch quality and efficiency.
• Basic experience using a range of tools that cover the entire process of software development, such as integrated development environments, version control systems, continuous integration, testing tools, simulation tools, project tracking systems, and issue tracking systems.
• Basic experience with Agile and Lean practices, Continuous Delivery, DevOps, and using data analytics to inform decision-making.
• Basic understanding of handling large amounts of data and knowing how to use appropriate machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques.
• Basic experience in creating small, independent services and interfaces that communicate over the web.
• Basic experience in software development.

Education and Certificates

• A four-year college degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or something similar.
• It’s good if you have a basic certificate from Microsoft showing you know about Azure.
• It’s also good if you have certificates that show you understand agile methods.
